Ajwain or মৌরি

Ajwain, ajowan,Trachyspermum ammi, also known as Ajowan caraway, bishop's weed or carom, is an annual herb in the family Apiaceae. It originated in the eastern Mediterranean, possibly Egypt, and spread up to India from the Near East. Both the leaves and the fruit (often mistakenly called seeds) of the plant are consumed by humans. The plant is also called bishop's weed, but this is a common name it shares with some other different plants. The "seed" (i.e., the fruit) is often confused with lovage "seed".

Warm water

Ingredients

1/2 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)

Method
Heat a small broad non-stick pan, add the carom seeds and dry roast on a medium flame for 1 minute. Keep aside.
Boil the milk in a saucepan, add the turmeric powder, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.
Remove from the flame, add the roasted carom seeds to the turmeric milk and mix well.
Serve immediately.
AJWAIN WATER RECIPE
HOW TO MAKE AJWAIN WATER:
Heat one tbsp ghee and add one cup of water.
Stir and add the ajwain powder.
When the mixture starts boiling, add the jaggery.
Stir to dissolve and bring back to a boil.
Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Drink like a hot soup.
Repeat the method and take every morning for 3 days.
ADRAK AND AJWAIN FLAVOURED LASSI RECIPE
HOW TO MAKE ADRAK AND AJWAIN FLAVOURED LASSI:
Peel and wash and finely dice the adrak.
Put the adrak, ajwain and chillies through a spice grinder to make a coarse paste.
Put the curd and water in the blender for a couple of minutes to make a Lassi.
Mix in the adrak, ajwain and chillies paste.
Add rock salt to taste.
Leave to soak for about 2 hours and then sieve out the flavouring.
Cool in the fridge and dilute some more with water before drinking.
